NHL All-Star Skill Competition

The annual All-Star event kicked off today with the skill competitions. Team North America and Team World competed in six different races and the fans got to see their stars shine.

Team North America won the puck control relay with a team of Taylor Hall, Mike Green and Sidney Crosby.

Nicklas Bäckström of Team World won the fastest skater competition, beating Kris Letang in the final.

Jarome Iginla of Team North America won the hardest shot competition with a result of 87 MPH, beating Johan Franzén in the final.

Mike Green of Team North America won the accuracy shooting competition, beating Evgeni Malkin in the final.

Ondrej Pavelec of Team World won the goalie competition (pass&score), beating Corey Crawford in the final.

Team World won the breakaway relay with a team of Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin and Ilya Kovalchuk.

Team North America has won the annual NHL All-Star game with a score of 13-7. Game MVP was Jonathan Toews.

A native of Canada, Jonathan Toews was originally drafted to the NHL by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 1st round of the 2006 entry draft. He has appeared in 442 NHL games during his career, notching 170 goals and adding 217 assists along with 185 penalty minutes. The 24 year old center has played 58 games with the Chicago Blackhawks this season, totalling 25+24=49 with 11 PIM.
